Frequently Asked Questions

How do tryouts work?

We hold tryouts twice a year at the beginning of Fall and Spring Semesters. Tryouts are mandatory if you want to play on the game roster and strongly recommended even if you just want to join us for practices. However long its been since you last played, come join us and we’ll work with you to make sure you can get back into things safely. You’ll need a glove, hat, and turf-appropriate shoes (no metal spikes). Shorts or baseball pants are fine. If you have any questions, reach out to us at gtclubbaseball@gmail.com.

What is the practice schedule?

This Spring, we practice 3 times per week at Roe E. Stamps Field. Practices will be Mondays from 4-6pm on Stamps 1-2, Wednesdays from 6-8pm on Stamps 3, and Thursdays from 4-6pm on Stamps 3-4.

How many games do you play?

We play roughly 25 games a year. We play 5 conference series (3 games each) in the Spring, and typically play a handful of other series and tournaments throughout the year.

Do I have to pay to play?

Dues are $200 per semester for those on the game roster. Dues are $50 per semester for practice players. If you aren’t sure whether you want to play, come join us at a practice on us!

What is the level of competition like?

Most players on our roster played competitively in high school. We also have multiple players who previously played NCAA baseball at the DI-III levels. We do occasionally take players without any high school experience.

What is travel like?

We travel around the Southeast for roughly half of our games. Most trips are limited to a weekend. The team provides hotels and transportation, and most players are able to attend without much disruption to their academic commitments.

What kind of equipment do I need?

The team will provide you with a hat, jersey, and pants. Not provided but essential equipment includes a glove, cleats, and navy blue socks/belt. Many of our games are on turf, so we recommend owning a pair of molded cleats in addition to metals.
